Finca Huehuetepan
 
Finca Huehuetepan is a 26 ha. farm located at the edge of a ravine, the soil is soft and airy, it also rains a lot and the ravine is surrounded by many native trees such as Jinicuil and Pahua.  Producer Carlos Cadena represents the 5th generation of coffee growers on his family. In 2012 Carlos begun participating at the Cup of excellence competition placing 6th place.  Since then he has won several  competitions competitions including 1st this year at the new experimental category and 4th with his naturals.  
 
Throughout the farm there is a water re-capture system that's used to re-distribute water to the coffee plants. With a wet mill integrated onto the property, Huehetepan is focusing on producing specialty coffees, with new developments of fermentation practices over the last few years. 
 
There's a focus on the sustainability of the land, with a large commitment to reusing as much of the byproduct of coffee as possible, with cherry pulp going back into compost and other beneficial plants scattered throughout the coffee plants. Though it's not certified organic, this coffee has never seen commercial composts / fertilizers.
 
Typica Variety
Typica is one of the root varieties of Coffea arabica, a mutation of one or more selection from Ethiopia planted in Yemen and then transplanted to Java by the Dutch in the 17th century. Typica variety is also known as Criollo, Pluma Hidalgo, Blue Mountain and Kona.
